        
Immediately after launching our denim collection, we began work on an item that's easy to imagine but extremely difficult to find: a slim chino with an excellent fit, great construction, and phenomenal fabric. We wanted to translate the precise specs of our Smith jean into a sharp cotton chino trouser that can be worn casually or dressed up. After six months of development, we're thrilled to introduce the EP's Rivet Chino! Crafted in Los Angeles of a gorgeous UK Pima cotton twill, we're confident that these chino trousers are in a league of their own.
Like the Smith jean, the Rivet Chino is a classic slim-straight fit that's not "skinny." It has a medium-low rise and a small leg opening which works well with proper shoes, boots, and trainers. The front and fly close with gunmetal donut buttons. The pockets are crafted in rugged hickory-stripe cotton twill. A hidden front coin pocket is perfectly sized to accommodate a few cards and some cash, thereby doubling as a mini-wallet.
As you can see from the "inside out" photo, the interior construction is phenomenal. The main rear seam is taped and reinforced. A single-curtain cotton waistband helps to keep your shirt tucked. And natural cotton herringbone twill runs down the inside of each leg. The legs are intentionally cut long so that you can cuff them up and show off this handsome detail.
Exact measurements are at the bottom. Overall, the sizing and shape is quite similar to our slim-straight "Smith" jean. It's also consistent with our Epaulet Slim "Walt" trouser - although the rise is shorter (this is a chino, but the Walt is a cotton dress trouser) and the legs are slightly slimmer.
Japanese 12oz Heavyweight Twill
This batch of EP's Rivet Chino's is crafted in 12oz 100% Japanese Cotton heavyweight twill. This is an excellent fabric for cool days throughout Fall, Winter, and Spring. It has a crisp fit and a really soft hand. The overall weight is comparable to a solid pair of raw denim jeans. This thicker fabric looks especially good when you cuff up the hem and let it stack on your shoes. It's tough as nails and will last through a ton of wash and wear.
Measurements
All measurements are shown in inches. Waist is measured with the rear waistband laid flat and doubled. Full rise is measured from the lowest point of the crotch to the top of the front waistband (with the trousers laid flat). Inseam is measured from the crotch seam to the leg opening. Thigh is measured from the lowest point of the crotch (laid flat) straight across the thigh. Knee is measured 13" down from the crotch seam and across. Leg opening is the width of the bottom hem.
You can buy these true to size. Shrinkage or exceptional stretching is not a concern for the waist and top block. You can expect the inseam to shrink approximately a half inch after washing, so please wash them before you get them hemmed to ensure the correct length.
