Founded 60 years ago in Hamburg, Wellensteyn coats have kept many a mariner and dock worker warm against the freezing winds of the North Sea. Their modern-day collection takes the ruggedness and practicality of their traditional workwear and translates it into sophisticated urban shapes. We're thrilled to be one of their US dealers.
The Monte Carlo is an extremely elegant and practical jacket. The WoCasAirTec material is a medium-weight polyester / viscose fabric with a soft woolly handle. The beautiful herringbone fabric is cut into a 3/4 length with clean and sleek lines. It is a great city coat and a versatile piece that can be worn casually with a pair of chinos or more formally with trousers. It's long enough to cover a sportcoat or a suit, and has a great pinstriped panel detail on the shoulder.
Performance: Waterproof, windproof, breathable shell stands up to stormy weather in all its forms. Taped seams.
Features: Synthetic plush liner inside coat & detachable collar for extra warmth. It is equipped with adjustable side waist tabs, 4 outside pockets and 2 interior zip pockets. Double-zip creates more ease of movement and taped seams ensure weather stays on the outside.
Fabric Details: Shell: 65% Polyester, 35% Viscose, Padding: 100% Polyester, Synthetic fur: 60% polyester, 40% Polyamide
Care: Machine wash warm (87° to 111° f.), with garment zipped closed, tumble dry low heat to improve water repellency. Do not bleach.
Fit and Measurements This jacket has an overall slim fit, but runs one size larger than our in-house Epaulet shirt collection. If you take a Medium, you'll most likely need a Small in this.
Note: All measurements are shown in inches. "Chest" is measured from one armpit seam to the other. "Shoulder" is measured from one shoulder seam to the other. "Sleeve" is measured from where the sleeve attaches to the body to the cuff. "Length" is measured from the base of the collar (where it attaches to the garment) to the bottom of the tail. "Chest Sizing" is how this piece corresponds to the typical slim-fit sportcoat, and "Epaulet Shirting" is how this piece corresponds with our in-house Epaulet Shirt collection.
About Wellensteyn Founded more than 60 years ago in Hamburg Germany by Adolf Wuttke, Wellensteyn originated as a producer of deep-submerge mechanical instruments designed to withstand the rigors of the North Sea. Wuttke also realized that his customers, technicians and dockhands in the shipyards of Germany, were also in constant need of sturdy, water-resistant work-wear. He developed a heavy, seaworthy, waxed sailcloth that could be use to provide superior durability for those exposed to some of the toughest elements.
