Please note, this item is not in stock at this time. It is available for preorder. Our preorder terms are as follows: 1. Delivery is expected between 9/25 and 10/15. All preordered units will be shipped immediately after we receive them. Your card will be charged when you place the order. 2. Preorders can be canceled and refunded at any time. Our goal is to ensure that those customers who really want the item can buy it. We don't want to lock you into a purchase - especially when you're ordering from a tiny swatch scan. 3. For items represented by swatches (ex. trousers and shirts), we'll first e-mail all preorder customers a full image of the actual garment when it's received. You can then confirm whether or not you'd like to keep your order or cancel it. 4. Delivery times are reasonably accurate, but are not set in stone. Most of our items are made by small firms, and they are sometimes subject to delays. Please be patient if the item comes in a bit late.

We love waxed cotton canvas. Created in Scotland in the 1930's, it's a prized rainwear fabric due to its water-resistance, breathability, and long-lasting durability. As it ages, it takes on a unique patina which only gets better year after year. Heavyweight waxed jackets were especially popular for motorcycle and hunting gear.
Vanson approached us last year and we proposed a custom project. Vanson Leathers is America’s largest manufacturer of leather motorcycle jackets and motorcycle riding apparel for men and women. Headquartered in Massachusetts, they've been making some of the finest motorcycle gear in the world for over 30 years.
Working with one of their existing textile jacket shapes, we collaborated on a slimmed-down and slightly cropped waxed jacket with a full liner. The exterior is completely blacked out, with black snap closures and absolutely no branding or logos. The 100% cotton liner is a classic Royal Stewart tartan. The exterior has four snap-closure patch pockets (including one slanted map pocket) and the interior has two button-closure pockets. The neck has a thick leather liner and a classic buckle and strap tab closure. The jacket closes with a heavy-gauge brass zipper. Both the front placket and outside patch pockets have fabric gussets to protect against rain.
From the first second that you put this jacket on, you'll feel the quality of its components and manufacturing. The heavyweight waxwear fabric has a solid heft and a great waxy drape. The snaps and zippers are substantial and work smoothly. Vanson is respected worldwide for the strength of their jackets and this one is no exception. You'll appreciate it more year after year as it ages and gains more character. Rest assured, this is one of the best and strongest waxed cotton jackets that you can buy anywhere - at any price.
The "Triton" namesake comes from classic British cafe racing history. Fusing the best elements of a Norton Featherbed and a Triumph Bonneville, it was one of the fastest modified bikes in the 60's and 70's. We like the think that many of those old-school Triton riders would appreciate this jacket's serious construction and old-school good looks. The water repellency would be nice too - as it's been known to rain in Britain every now and then.
This piece - and most of Vanson's textile range - is produced in Miramar, El Salvador. Their modern, climate-controlled facility is wholly owned and run on-site by Vanson. For anyone familiar with their leather goods produced in Fall River, Massachusetts, you can expect the same standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Measurements Note: All measurements are shown in inches. "Sleeves from Back" is measured from the center of the upper back. "Length" is measured from the base of the collar (where it attaches to the shirt) to the bottom of the tail.

Pictured Fit Model (5'10", 190lb) wears size Medium. Compared to most garments we sell, this one runs a little larger. However, in the model's own words, "the Medium is a great fit over a shirt or a polo. The Large isn't oversized on me, and I'd buy it to wear with a sweater underneath." If you're looking for a very trim fit, then size down one from our Epaulet shirt size. For a slightly roomier fit that allows for layering, then get the same size as your Epaulet shirt.
The Vanson Philosophy: No Compromises
The quest for excellence and perfection never ends. We continue to create a new standard with every Vanson Product. Every Vanson product is as unique as your own bike. Our workers make sure that your jacket has the fit and the finish that will distinguish you from the crowd. Perhaps that is why you can spot a Vanson garment in a crowd of hundreds. And, we will continue to make the most innovative and unique products for years to come. Your investment in a genuine Vanson will make even more sense in 10 years: you'll still be wearing it!
That is what we call "heirloom quality" garments. That is the heart and soul of Vanson.
