TOMS was founded by Blake Mycoskie in 2006. On a trip to Argentina he discovered that most of the children grew up with no shoes. In many developing countries, walking is their prime mode of transportation making their feet susceptible to injuries and diseases. Blake wanted to make a difference and later that year returned to Argentina with his TOMS family and gave the people 10,000 pairs of shoes. Because of this "One for One" philosophy, TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pair by the end of 2009.
