Wow.
This is one of the most incredible and most serious coats that we've ever seen. Crafted in the USA and designed by Greg Chapman, it's part of Schott's "Perfecto Brand" - a capsule collection of beautifully executed Americana pieces.
Named for the American Admiral of the pacific Fleet in World War II this knee-length double breasted coat makes a dramatic statement. The 32oz military-spec melton wool has a 20% nylon blend to add extra protection from the wind and resistance to piling. 13-star anchor buttons are crafted of genuine horn. Corduroy lines the handwarmer pockets and thick cotton sheeting lines the entire body. The collar can be popped up and closed with the attached throat latch to completely lock out the wind. Two interior pockets can securely hold your valuables. The color is an extremely dark navy - just a few shades off of black.
Many of our customers complain that it's hard to find a wool coat that truly keeps you warm on extremely cold days. Well look no further! This jacket is thick, heavy, and incredibly substantial. It will keep you warm this winter, next winter, and the winter 15 years from now.
About Schott Founded in New York's Lower East Side by two brothers in 1913, Schott is a classic American heritage brand. Throughout their nearly 100 years, this family-run business has created such iconic jackets as the double-breasted US Navy melton peacoat, the WWII Shearling Bomber Jacket, and the original "Perfecto" zip-front motorcycle jacket - as seen on the likes of Marlon Brando and the Ramones. Now in their fourth-generation of ownership, Schott continues its mission of crafting quality and classic outerwear at very fair prices. Here at Epaulet, they're one of our very favorite brands and our go-to recommendation for great jackets.
Fit Overall, the Chester has a really great slim fit. However, the measurements below make it appear bigger than it is. The melton wool and the liner are really thick, so even though the jacket's dimensions are large, the room inside them is smaller than it would appear.
We find that going down one size from your Epaulet shirt size will give you a solid fit in this coat, with room to put a substantial sweater on underneath. So if you wear a Large in Epaulet shirts, we'd recommend ordering a Medium in the Chester coat.
Model (6'2", 165lb) wears size Medium.
