One of our all time favorite outerwear pieces, the classic Harrington jacket is a hard one to beat.  In terms of versatility, style and functionality, we challenge you to find a superior fall/ spring jacket. It will keep you dry in light precipitation, warm when the temperature dips, and looking good when either dressed up or down. The Fred Perry version of this classic is our absolute favorite iteration and comes complete with all the traditional styling details, including a two-button funnel neck and softly ribbed cuffs and hem. With a zip-down front and two button pockets, this Harrington jacket is finished with a red Stewart tartan lining and contrast color Laurel Wreath embroidery.

Outer shell contents: 65% Polyester/35% Cotton.
Lining: 100% Cotton

A bit about the Harrington jacket:
The iconic Harrington jacket is a lightweight waist-length jacket, made of cotton, polyester, wool or suede. Traditionally, it’s lined with a Fraser tartan or check-pattern.  Popular in 1950s United States Ivy League culture and the 1960s United Kingdom mod scene, the Harrington has had a peppered history and experienced a spike in popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s with mod revivalists and scooterboys. It's often worn with Fred Perry polos or Ben Sherman button-downs.

The nickname Harrington comes from the character Rodney Harrington from the 1960s prime time soap opera Peyton Place, who wore the jacket routinely; but its real sartorial prominence stems from its association with the famous American style-icon trifecta of Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen and James Dean.

Sizing:
Compared to most Harrington jackets, this Fred Perry model has a slimmer, more dialed in fit. That said,  this Fred Perry model maintains the traditional "blouson" shape, where the chest is meant to fit slightly larger than usual. This effect is compensated for by the elastic rib at the bottom. We suggest sizing down from your typical Epaulet shirt size to achieve a sharper fit in the shoulders, and a minimally larger fit in the chest.
So, if you take a Large in Epaulet shirts, we suggest ordering a Medium in the Fred Perry Harrington jacket.

Measurements
Note: All measurements are shown in inches. "Chest" is measured from one armpit seam to the other. "Shoulder" is measured from one shoulder seam to the other. "Sleeve" is measured from where the sleeve attaches to the body to the cuff. "Length" is measured from the base of the collar (where it attaches to the garment) to the bottom of the tail.

Pictured Fit
Model is 5'9" and 150lb. He's wearing a 36/Small in the pictured fit.

About Fred Perry

Fred Perry prides itself on being the first British heritage brand to successfully blend sportswear with streetwear to create some of the most iconic styles of the last century. Throughout our history we have always stayed true to our ethos of authenticity, integrity and attitude. The brand was born in the late 1940s, when former Austrian footballer Tibby Wegner approached three times Wimbledon champion Fred Perry with an idea. Their initial venture was the very first sweatband, which was quickly adopted by tennis players across the courts of Britain. In 1952 the pair launched what was to be Fred Perry's most famous garment: a slim fit cotton pique shirt with Laurel Wreath embroidery.

From the beginning, Fred Perry - and the tipped pique shirt in particular - has been associated with a whole series of subcultures driven by musical affinities. Mods, skinheads, suedeheads, soul boys, rude boys, two tone. There was even a short-lived subculture known as the Perry Boys. When Britpop took the world by storm in the mid 1990s it was no surprise to find bands like Blur and Oasis sporting the epitome of street fashion credibility. Today our Laurel Wreath logo is recognisable worldwide, with shops and customers across 50 countries around the globe. The original Fred Perry cotton pique shirt is still made to the same high standards and is synonymous with underground fashion and British cool.
