A bit about Pepper Floral print:
Pepper was designed for Liberty by the Jack Prince Studio in 1974. Jack Prince designed for Liberty for many years both on dress and furnishing fabrics. Pepper has been on Classic Tana since 1979. We adore the dense concentration of micro-floral on this print, and the near monochromatic effect it has when viewed at a distance; lavender overlays pink, which overlays pale blue, on a mostly obstructed navy and white ground with little black pointillism running throughout.
The Liberty story:
Since 1875, Liberty has been synonymous with luxury and great design. Arthur Liberty’s intuitive vision and pioneering spirit led him to travel the world looking for individual pieces to inspire and excite his discerning clientele.
The original Liberty shop sold ornaments, fabric and objets d'art from Japan and the East, and was one of the most fashionable place to shop in London. The iconic Liberty fabrics were used for both clothing and furnishings. In the 1890s Arthur Lasenby became instrumental in the development of the Art Nouveau movement; and, in the 20th century, Liberty adapted these furnishing designs from its archive for a newly interested audience.
Today Liberty is the leading destination store in London, a wonderful emporium where the latest fashions sit alongside design classics.
Fabric composition:
The 100% cotton fabric used for this shirt is called "tana lawn" - named after Laon, France - where it was first conceived. Yarn-dyed and woven in Japan, this 100% Pima cotton fabric is extremely lightweight, soft, and breathable. It has an excellent drape, and gives an airy feel without being sheer and retaining its strength for repeated wash and wear. It's a great choice for warmer days, and layers well under sweaters for cooler days. We love wearing these all year long.
Point Collar & Chest Pocket
Our slim point collar has substantial height and removable collar stays. Sturdy fusable fabric inside the collar maintains its shape through repeated wash and wear. A left chest pocket is perfectly matched to the shirt body.
Slim Fit
Epaulet shirts are cut slim throughout the body and sleeves. A box pleat at the upper back allows you to move your arms without pulling, and two darts in the lower back keep the shirt close to your torso. The length is shorter than your average dress shirt, allowing it to be worn un-tucked and casually while still looking sharp.
Measurements
Note: All measurements are shown in inches. "Sleeves from Back" is measured from the center of the upper back. "Sleeves from Shoulder" is measured from the shoulder seam. "Length" is measured from the base of the collar (where it attaches to the shirt) to the bottom of the tail.
