    
Woven in India of 100% cotton, the genuine Madras cloth that makes up this patchwork short is naturally dyed in a few different, yet equally handsome, pastel color schemes. The classic needlework design by which this short is made is accomplished by sewing together various pieces of fabric with subtly dissimilar patterns and colors to make one coherent design. The precise joining of these fabric pieces allows the finished patchwork to lie flat without puckering, and gives the overall appearance a relatively seamless structure.
The soft and lightweight texture of madras is excellent for the Summer and unbelievably comfortable; and patchwork styles are just as classic and timeless as uniform ones. Take it from us - you'll find a way to pair these with just about anything.
Epaulet shorts are a true labor of love. As with every item in our in-house collection, they have excellent materials, meticulous craftsmanship, fair pricing, and a well-executed fit. Each pair is hand-assembled with old school construction at a venerable trouser house in New York City. It's hard to find a good pair of shorts and it's difficult to make one - but our production house is more than up to the task. We're confident that these will be some of the best shorts you will ever own.
The "Modified Walt" is a slim trouser short with a lot of consideration given to the fit. The legs are slim but not too tight. The medium rise is comfortable to wear and keeps your shirt tucked in if you want it tucked. They're beautifully constructed with an inner waist curtain, taped & finished seams, and a split back waistband. The split waistband allows your tailor to perfectly take in or let out the waist up to 1.5". The 9" inseam falls a little above knee length on most, but it can be easily hemmed to a shorter length or let out an additional 0.75". The overall fit in the thighs is in-between our Walt and Rudy trousers, so if you own a pair of our pants, then these should fit you spot on. You can order the same size that you order in our full length trousers.
Measurements
All measurements are shown in inches. Waist is measured with the waistband laid flat and doubled. Thigh is measured from the lowest point of the crotch (laid flat) straight across the thigh. Leg opening is the width of the bottom hem. Rise is measured from the lowest point of the crotch (laid flat) to the top of the waistband.
Note: As these trousers are machine washable, they are sized slightly larger than the measurements below to allow for shrinkage. After a machine wash and warm tumble dry, they will shrink to these specifications.
